The Tennessee Temporary Plate form is an application used by licensed motor vehicle dealers and individuals to obtain temporary plates for vehicles and trailers that are not subject to registration. This form is essential for those needing a short-term solution for operating a vehicle or trailer in Tennessee. For more information and to complete your application, please click the button below.
The Tennessee Temporary Plate form serves as a crucial tool for both licensed motor vehicle dealers and individuals in need of temporary vehicle registration. As of November 1, 2021, licensed dealers must utilize a print-on-demand dealer drive-out tag instead of the traditional green card stock tags. This transition is facilitated through the Revenue's EZ Tag Program, which has been praised for its efficiency and time-saving capabilities. For those involved in trailer sales or manufacturing, the form allows businesses to order temporary trailer permits for customers, permitting a five-day operational period for trailers not requiring registration in Tennessee. Individuals can also use this form to acquire temporary plates for their trailers or vehicles. The application requires basic information such as the dealership name, license number, and contact details, along with the type and quantity of tags requested, which come at varying costs. Importantly, applicants must certify the accuracy of their information, as fraudulent statements could lead to serious penalties. Completed forms must be mailed to the Vehicle Services Division, with specific payment requirements outlined for dealers. It’s essential to note that walk-in applications are not accepted, and applicants can expect temporary plates to be mailed within one to two weeks of submission. For any inquiries or assistance, various contact methods are available, ensuring that both dealers and individuals have the support they need throughout the process.
